Company context

In this company, filters are used in the manufacturing process of a biocide, specifically during container filling.
This filtration step is critical, as the company’s customer requires the final product to meet at least cleanliness class 5 under the NAS standard relating to particle contamination.

Filtration challenge

The production line faced several challenges:

  • The product has a tendency to recrystallise
  • High filter consumption
  • High filter consumption (repeated issue)

The company had previously carried out a filtration study to achieve the desired quality level for the biocide.

The selected filtration solution consists of a three-stage system in series: Lenticular module, 5 µm filter cartridge, 1.5 µm filter cartridge

Filtre Supaclean Amazon Filters

We worked on the last two filtration stages to reduce production costs while maintaining the quality of the final product.
We recommended using the AMAZON Filters SUPASPUN 5 µm and SUPAPLEAT 03XB cartridges.

The initial trials were successful, but operators still encountered issues:

  • Breakage of certain end caps (code 7) used to connect the 5 × 30-inch filter housings at the 5 µm and 1.5 µm stages
  • Contamination and cleanliness problems at the workstation

In a second phase, we improved the system’s ergonomics and suggested using the SUPACLEAN filtration setup, which allowed the company to keep the selected filter media while significantly improving workstation cleanliness.
