Company context

Our client is a family-owned pharmaceutical company dedicated to the development, production and distribution of innovative injectable pharmaceutical specialties that meet the demands and needs of healthcare professionals and patients. Two production sites, a logistics platform, and R&D laboratories are all located in France.

Filtration challenge

Having already been implemented at one of the two production plants through the supply of AMAZON FILTERS filter cartridges for water treatment, we approached the other site as part of the recent installation of a water production system. Our client was looking for a supplier of filtration consumables with the objectives of meeting operating conditions and reducing costs.

Water production is organised according to the following configuration:

Pemflow Filtration solution

As indicated by the water production system diagram, we proposed filter cartridges with absolute filtration ratings of 10 µm, installed upstream of the water softener and the boiler.

A cartridge with an absolute rating of 1 µm, installed downstream of an activated carbon cartridge, protects the reverse osmosis unit.

We selected the absolute-rated pleated depth cartridge range SupaPleat Plus from AMAZON FILTERS, providing an efficiency greater than 99.98% at the stated rating (β 5000).

The SupaPleat Plus high-surface pleated depth cartridges were developed to meet industrial processes where high efficiency levels are required, while maintaining extremely low pressure drop.

Our in-house developments have optimised the filter media to achieve higher levels of porosity and excellent build quality. SupaPleat Plus filters offer enhanced durability through the use of a robust external cage.

  • Filter media: glass microfibre
  • End caps: polypropylene
  • Cage/Core: polypropylene
  • Seals: Buna, EPDM, Silicone, Viton, FEP silicone, FEP Viton, PTFE
  • Available filtration ratings: from 0.5 µm to 400 µm
  • Filtration efficiency: absolute (> 99.98%)
  • End-cap configurations: all international standards available
  • Dimensions: from 10” to 40”
  • Operating temperature: up to 80°C continuous
  • Sterilisation & sanitisation: Steam 121°C for 60 min (240 cycles); Hot water: 90°C for 30 min
  • Full traceability by batch number
  • Individual certificate of conformity

The filter cartridge end caps are Code 8, as originally configured on the installation.

The activated carbon cartridge, installed upstream of the reverse osmosis unit and the 1 µm absolute filtration, is of the SupaCarb type from AMAZON FILTERS.

  • Compacted block using powdered and granular carbon
  • Modular construction up to 1017 mm (40”)
  • Polymer materials compliant with US Title 21 requirements
Double joints torique 222 / Ailette de centrage
Namely

Activated charbon

A highly porous form of carbon used to adsorb organic compounds, in particular to reduce or eliminate chlorine levels.

The SupaCarb BP modular cartridge uses a unique process that combines high-purity powdered carbon and granular carbon, giving it a very high surface area per 10” module. It is fitted with a 5 µm spun prefilter.

The relevance of our technical, quality, and cost-effective solutions was decisive in securing the supply of the filtration consumables.
