Company background

The company specialises in the production of food ingredients. It develops innovative solutions for the food industry, aimed at improving product quality, safety and sustainability. Its activities include the formulation of flavours, colourings and food additives. It is also active in nutrition, offering ingredients designed to support health.

Filtration challenge

The various stages of the customer’s manufacturing process required a water supply free from contaminants, in order to secure both industrial and food processes. To achieve this, it was necessary to ensure complete pre-treatment of the site’s borehole water by retaining sand and gravel. In addition, the filtration solution had to take into account the protection of wash heads and prevent the deposition of residues after tank rinsing.

The maintenance department was looking for a solution:

  • For a flow rate of 221 m3/h,
  • Fully automatic,
  • Without process interruption,
  • Without human intervention,
  • And installed outdoors.

Pemflow filtration solution

In response to the customer’s requirements, we proposed a fully automatic self-cleaning filtration solution operating in counter-current and/or co-current mode, without process interruption, type FTL.

To ensure continuity of operation, we installed two self-cleaning filters in parallel and symmetrically; a so-called mirror filter configuration. This setup also provides ease of maintenance (no shutdown for cleaning or replacement) as well as performance optimisation (one filter is always in operation).

The stainless steel FTL filters are equipped with:

  • 5 × 50 µm filter elements
  • 5 inlet valves
  • 5 drain valves enabling co-current and counter-current cleaning of each strainer
  • 1 differential pressure gauge
  • 1 IP66 control panel
  • Remote IP66 panels

Our engineering department is able to provide a complete solution, from the sizing phase through to design, while taking customer-specific requirements into account. As such, we integrated the isolation and drain valves supplied by our customer.

Good to know

IP66 is a protection rating (Ingress Protection) defined by the IEC 60529 standard.

It indicates the level of protection of electrical equipment against dust and water.

IP66: No dust ingress, even after prolonged exposure.

IP66: Protection against high-pressure water jets from all directions.

Commissioning / Maintenance

Our technical services can ensure follow-up of the supplied equipment by supporting you, in particular during commissioning and start-up of the filter on your network. We also intervene regularly as part of maintenance contracts.

Our customer entrusted us with the annual maintenance of its installation.

Expert advice

A maintenance contract for a self-cleaning filter is a strategic investment to guarantee continuity, efficiency and profitability of the installation.
