Company background
This international group operates in 40 countries. Its areas of expertise include building insulation, insulation for processing industries, shipbuilding and the offshore industry. Façade cladding, horticultural solutions, acoustic ceilings, as well as composite fibres intended for industrial applications, are also within the scope of this company’s activities.
Filtration issue
The effluent recycling installation consisted of two multi-cartridge housings 12×30’’, fitted with filters with a 75 µm rating. This configuration required the replacement of 24 cartridges per day, making system maintenance time-consuming. In addition, ergonomics were not optimised. Finally, due to the cartridge design (polyester media & stainless steel core), waste management was complex.
It should be noted that the effluent (process water) is composed of various pollutants and dextrose, with a high agglomerating and clogging potential.
Our client approached us to optimise their installation.
Pemflow filtration solution
In order to propose the most relevant filtration solution, we carried out, together with our client, three different phases of tests and trials at the effluent recycling point.
The objectives were to improve the reliability of filtration, bring a significant improvement in filtration workstation ergonomics for operators, and achieve economic gains.
To achieve this, we are able to offer the rental of filtration systems in order to define the equipment best suited to the process.
Ultimately, the selected configuration consists of two 316L stainless steel filter housings, each fitted with a size 1 filter basket with a filtration rating of 870 µm. The two housings are installed in parallel to ensure continuity of the effluent filtration process.

Characteristics and benefits of the installed filter housings:
- In-line connections for easy installation
- Minimal floor space requirements
- Top cover and connections in cast iron
- Swing bolt closure with eye nuts
- Cover with side handle and tilting ball joint
- Vent with screwed stainless steel plug
- Drain with screwed stainless steel plug
- Each housing is engraved with a unique serial number for full traceability
Expert advice
For pressures up to 10 bar, we equip our housings with swing bolts
To facilitate maintenance operations and at the request of our client, the legs were extended by 500 mm.
In this way, we were able to meet operator expectations in terms of ergonomics. The in-line design allows easy installation and reduced footprint.
Testimonial from the Process Engineer
“Thanks to the support of Sofise by Pemflow, we changed our filtration technology. This change brought us ergonomic benefits for operators, economic gains, and improved filtration reliability. We previously had significant issues installing our old filters; replacement was frequent, difficult and time-consuming. Now, replacement is simple, fast and efficient.”
