Our client is a flavor and fragrance creation company. Its core activities include natural product extraction, distillation, purification, and chemical synthesis. The products manufactured are used in beverages, biscuits, confectionery, dairy products, and savory foods. The company is the largest French group and one of the global leaders in the flavors and fragrances industry.
Filtration challenge
The company distributes municipal water across its site, but the quality is highly variable, especially due to climatic conditions, which is unacceptable for production requirements.
Our client consulted us to provide a filtration system meeting clearly defined criteria:
- Deliver consistently high-quality water
- Final filtration rating of 1 µm, upstream of a 0.2 µm filter
- Flow rate of 40 m³/h
- Compact equipment and easy filter media replacement
- Non-captive filter elements
Pemflow filtration solution
To meet the required flow rate and water quality, we selected a technical solution consisting of two 66-series housings in series, equipped with SupaPleat HFC cartridges supplied by our partner AMAZON FILTERS.
The two stages of liquid filtration comprise:
- A second cartridge with identical characteristics, but an absolute filtration rating of 5 µm
- A first SupaPleat HFC cartridge, 60 inches long, with an absolute filtration rating of 20 µm

The SupaPleat HFC high-surface-area cartridge from AMAZON FILTERS uses a pleated depth media, providing maximum efficiency and exceptional flow rates.
Equipped with polypropylene media (ensuring broad chemical compatibility) and a matching core and end caps, this filter cartridge meets US FDA Title 21 standards and food-contact requirements as detailed in European Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004.
Fully thermally welded for maximum integrity, the specific pleating is designed for inside-to-outside flow.
The version installed in this system offers an extended service life for critical applications. All SupaPleat HFC cartridges are manufactured under strict control, with a lot number for complete traceability of all components.
Two 316L stainless steel filter housings, mounted horizontally in series, each contain a single 60-inch high-flow HFC cartridge with standard market end caps.
The 66 series filter housings from AMAZON FILTERS are made of high-quality 316L stainless steel, electropolished inside and out.
Horizontal installation facilitates replacement of the 60-inch cartridges at ergonomic height.
