Company context
The organization is a facility specialized in rehabilitation, following a hospital stay for an acute medical or surgical condition. The structure offers a wide range of care services, based on the multidisciplinary development of a personalized patient care plan. The facility is recognized by the ARS as a reference center for the support of Dependent Elderly Patients with Multiple Pathologies (PAPD), for the care pathway of patients with Parkinson’s disease, and for the management of patients affected by COVID-19.
Filtration challenge
Following a “Legionella alert” affecting the entire facility, the care center decided to secure all water points of use (POU). As the showers were already equipped with point-of-use filters, it was necessary to equip the washbasins with filtration systems in order to guarantee users bacteriologically controlled water. Following an initial online contact, we were consulted to propose effective solutions, adapted to operational requirements and compliant with current regulations.
Pemflow filtration solution
We visited the facility to understand the needs and constraints, as well as to establish a precise and objective diagnosis. This approach was carried out in collaboration with all stakeholders of the center involved in resolving the issue.
Medical tap filter
Our solution of medical filters adapted to washbasin taps was selected due to its design, which guarantees an optimized working area.

Medical filters are simple, safe, and effective means to immediately secure the water network.
Technical specifications:
- Filter media: capillary microfiltration membranes

Expert advice
Medical filters must undergo testing to measure the effectiveness of the membranes in retaining pathogenic organisms. The filters were successfully tested in accordance with ASTM F838-05 and ASTM F838-15a using the following microorganisms: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Legionella pneumophila, Brevundimonas diminuta, and Aspergillus brasiliensis. As a result, hollow fiber membranes can be considered effective for the retention of pathogenic microorganisms.
During the presentation of our medical tap filters, we also proposed our range of medical shower filters.

Anti-Legionella shower filter
Our client had implemented single-use shower filters.
With the objective of cost control and an eco-responsible approach, we were able to demonstrate the relevance of our new anti-Legionella shower technology, consisting of a showerhead and a replaceable filter cartridge.
The anti-Legionella shower filter is a simple means of controlling the risk of Legionella development in hot water networks. It retains pathogenic organisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Legionella pneumophila, and Aspergillus brasiliensis (spores).
