Company context
The company is one of the world leaders in the manufacture of flavourings for the food industry. It focuses on combining molecules and ingredients to create flavours that can be found in dishes, biscuits, soft drinks, and other food products. Our client uses both natural flavourings and synthetic flavourings that are identical to nature.
Filtration challenge
Upstream of a storage tank, our contact wished to install a prefiltration stage in order to capture large particles (seeds and small pieces of biomass) following the extraction of vegetable and fruit juices.
The system flow rate is 150 L/h. As the final product is intended for the food industry, it had to comply with EU Regulation 1935/2004.
Pemflow filtration solution
In order to reduce operating costs compared with consumables, we guided the client towards the use of a metallic filter basket with a 100 µm rating, installed in an AMAZON FILTERS Series 81 filter housing.
These filter housings are widely used where low cost is of primary importance, making them the ideal choice to replace conventional cast stainless steel strainers. The side inlet and bottom outlet configuration is perfectly suited to applications where product changeovers require a housing that is easy to clean and easy to access.

Expert advice
When the maximum operating pressure can reach 10 bar, it is advisable to adopt a clamp-type closure.
A 316L stainless steel filter basket with a 100 µm filtration rating is installed inside the filter housing.
This configuration, offering easy maintenance and servicing, ensures the retention of ground residues and vegetal residues.
