Company background
The company specialises in the design and manufacture of customised chemical equipment and chemical protection systems for laboratories. Operating in the fields of chemistry for various sectors such as the food industry, cosmetics, research laboratories and microelectronics, the company develops highly technical equipment while supporting its clients throughout the feasibility study, specification drafting and commissioning phases.
Filtration challenge
For the same piece of equipment, intended for an end customer in microelectronics, our contact requested two filtration solutions:
- Filtration of ozonated pure water at a flow rate of 15 l/min (0.9 m3/h) and a maximum temperature of 50 °C, with a concentration of 100 to 150 ppm;
- Filtration of an ammonia solution feed at 20 l/min (1.2 m3/h), with a concentration of approximately 50 g of ammonium per 2 l of solution.

Ozonated water filtration
For use in applications involving the treatment of corrosive liquids, such as ozonated water, it is essential to select a filtration medium that is chemically compatible with the fluid to be filtered. AMAZON FILTERS SupaPore TL cartridges have been specifically designed for this purpose.
The filter medium is made of PTFE. The end caps, cage and core are made of Halar (ECTFE).
The filtration rating is 0.2 µm absolute (efficiency > 99.998%).
The seals are made of EPDM.
The cartridge features laser marking of the batch number for full traceability and is supplied with a certificate of conformity.
After verifying chemical compatibility, we selected the AMAZON FILTERS Series 51 single-cartridge filter housing to accommodate the 10’’ Code 7 cartridge.
The inlet/outlet connections are BSPF 1’’.
The housing is made of 316L stainless steel with external polishing and a microbead-blasted head.
PED (SED) compliant, this single-cartridge filter housing with clamp closure accepts the entire range of cartridges available on the market, with filtration ratings from 0.1 to 500 µm and lengths of 5, 10, 20 and 30 inches.
Good to know
All pressure equipment put into service in Europe must comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU. This directive requires that all pressure equipment and assemblies above the specified pressure and/or volume thresholds meet the essential safety requirements covering design, manufacture and testing, comply with the appropriate conformity assessment procedures, and bear the CE marking and/or other required information.
Ammonia solution filtration
For this application, we selected the AMAZON FILTERS SupaPore PC absolute depth pleated capsule, a disposable filter for small- to medium-scale filtration.
In junior format, this 100% polypropylene capsule was proposed with an absolute filtration rating of 0.5 µm (β 5000).
The inlet/outlet connections are Hosebarb 6 mm, in line with the client’s requirements.
The advantage of this filter format lies in minimising cleaning after use and avoiding operator exposure to process fluids.
Each capsule features laser marking of the batch number, ensuring full traceability. An individual certificate of conformity is supplied with the product.
