Industry sector: Treatment and disposal of non-hazardous waste (NAF 2008 Code: 3821Z)
Company activity: Company specialising in the collection of household and industrial waste
Company type: French subsidiary of an international group
Year of establishment: 2008
Contact(s): Purchasing / Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) & water network manager
Company context
Our client is a multi-stream household waste treatment centre. It fulfils a public service mission, entrusted by a major metropolitan authority as part of a delegated service agreement.
This innovative site is the first in France to combine three types of recovery techniques: sorting, organic recovery, and energy recovery. In the waste recovery process, the combustible fraction is converted into energy, while the organic fraction enables the production of biogas and electricity, as well as the production of compost used in agriculture.
Filtration challenge

Already a supplier of filter housings and consumables for tank vents, the company approached us regarding a new water filtration project.
Our client expressed the need for a “filtration device” to purify water stored in a basin. This water, resulting from a centrifugation process, must be purified of coarse particles with an approximate size of 800 µm during basin drainage.
Pemflow filtration solution
The first requirement expressed by our contacts was to have a filter housing equipped with a Polyamide 6 filter bag with a filtration rating of 800 µm for a flow rate of 30 m³/h.
After clarification of the actual requirements, we moved towards the design of a mobile filtration skid (pallet truck movable), incorporating two filter housings in parallel and capable of delivering a maximum flow rate of 60 m³/h.
In addition, our client was looking for a local, nearby filtration specialist. In collaboration with our partner AMAZON FILTERS, we designed and developed a mobile filtration device with the following characteristics:
- 304 stainless steel frame
- 2 × 316L stainless steel filter housings, Series 81 from AMAZON FILTERS
- Size 2 flexible filter bag
- 6 isolation valves
- 2 pressure gauges (0–6 bar) on inlet and outlet piping
- Vent valve kits with air purge valve
- Inlet/Outlet DN80 PN16
- Mounted on a grating with retention and drain valve
- Pallet-truck compatible skid with side reinforcements

Such a configuration makes it possible to operate at 60 m³/h under full load and to ensure a minimum of 30 m³/h during filter bag replacement on one or the other of the filter housings.
The platform or grating provides sufficient space to allow the operator to work safely and without handling constraints during interventions.

Expert advice
PED (Pressure Equipment Directive)
All pressure equipment placed into service in Europe must comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU. This directive requires that all pressure equipment and assemblies above the specified pressure and/or volume thresholds meet the essential safety requirements covering design, manufacture, and testing, comply with the appropriate conformity assessment procedures, and bear the CE marking and/or other required information.
