Company context
The company offers various surface treatment and protection techniques: specialised chemical spraying, sandblasting, metallisation and specialised paints. It is specialised in the application of both powder and liquid industrial paints on different materials (aluminium, steel, but also wood, plastic and composites). It provides subcontracting services for companies across many sectors, from construction to aeronautics, automotive and urban furniture.
The processes used in its production units notably include a shot-blasting dust extraction system, or industrial dust-removal system. This preparatory step is carried out before applying paint to the metal surfaces to be treated.
Filtration challenge
Made up of nearly 130 filter bags and operating with an automatic cleaning system, this industrial dust-removal system for extracting shot-blasting dust had not been serviced for about ten years. The client had no technical documentation describing the filtration system, nor any information on the type or nature of the filter elements inside. They therefore first wanted to carry out a technical assessment of the installation.
The next step was to replace the worn-out filters with new filter media compatible with the technical constraints identified during this audit.
Pemflow filtration solution
Based on a torn and heavily soiled filter bag (1) and a sample of the upper retaining plate for the filter bags (2), we were able to identify the nature of the filter media and determine the mechanical and dimensional characteristics of the filter bags previously used.
Based on these elements, we proposed the following filtration solution to the client for their industrial dust-removal system:
- Cylindrical filter bag with a diameter of 200 mm and a length of 2.4 m
- 50 mm flat cuff
- Round bottom & 9 mm hole matching the fixing plate
- Filtration direction: from the inside to the outside
- Filter media: polyester with hydrophobic treatment
Filter bags meeting this specification were delivered to the client, who was pleased with how easily they could be installed. The solution has proven fully satisfactory.
