Company context
Producing gearbox position sensors, the client operates a machine fleet of 8 Emag™ processing units.

Filtration challenge
Since the machines were first commissioned, the company only had one Mahle™ PI8630 filter (60 microns). Its effective filtration surface was too small to handle the full particulate load.
As a result, the company had to implement a rotation system involving machine shutdown and ultrasonic bath cleaning of the strainer. This worked only a few times, after which production teams had to manually clean and brush the filter. These actions deteriorated the filter faster than under normal operating conditions.
This operating method forced the company to regularly purchase new filters.
Each maintenance operation — including machine shutdown, filter cleaning and frequent replacement — cost approximately €1,000, and had to be carried out once per week.
Another constraint was the limited space available to integrate a filter on each machine.
Pemflow filtration solution
To optimise costs, simplify maintenance and minimise space requirements, we proposed a compact bag filter fitted with a 50 µm filter bag.
The client tested the filtration solution over more than one month on a single machine, with the following results:
- Filter replacement frequency halved
- No machine failures
- No defects or non-conformities on produced parts
Ultimately, the client equipped their entire machine fleet with this filtration system.
