Implementing lab-scale filters for the cosmetics industry

This company develops innovative structures using microfluidics (beads, bubbles, capsules, etc.) to encapsulate active ingredients, moving away from traditional cosmetic formulations.
They were looking to acquire filtration equipment for their industrial transfer unit, which reproduces the same processes used at industrial scale, but on smaller laboratory-scale volumes.

These filters had to meet several criteria:

• Adapt to the fittings of the two unit tanks (550 L and 100 L) as well as to existing piping
• Provide a minimum filtration surface of 200 cm² to ensure proper scale-down consistency with the filters used in production
• Be compact enough to allow product collection in a container placed under the tank
• Be available with different filtration ratings (50, 100, 200 and 1000 µm) to suit products with varying viscosity
• Be easy to clean.

To address the space constraints encountered by the company, we selected an elbow-style filter.
This filtration device provides a sufficient filtration surface (≥ 200 cm²) based on the requirements expressed.
It occupies a limited footprint, allowing it to be installed at the tank outlet while still leaving enough room to place a collection container beneath the tank.
